Welcome, Pilgrim.
This space is for you. A free little writing nook of short meditations where I hope to encourage your soul and offer a word to revive the weary.
In John Bunyan’s classic, The Pilgrim’s Progress, the character Christian approaches a house at the top of the hill he has been laboriously climbing all day. It is nightfall and he has had to brave lions on either side of the gate to reach the door. After speaking to the porter, he is introduced to ‘a beautiful damsel, named Discretion,’ and pleads with her,
“I have so much the more a desire to lodge here to-night, because by what I perceive, this place was built by the Lord of the hill for the relief and security of pilgrims.”
Here is an apt description of what I want the pages of this substack to accomplish for its subscribers: a house of words built for the relief and security of pilgrims. Our journey is long, full of peril and many battles, but it is worth the Pearl of great price.
